A Parent Guide to Hearing Loss
Resource rooms are rooms where a child can go to be pre-taught and re-taught material they may not understand in a mainstream classroom. In these rooms, the child may also take certain tests or complete tasks where they may not otherwise be able to complete them. After they are pre-taught, they go back out into the mainstream classroom to learn and come back to the resource classroom to be re-taught.
PROS:
-
They are getting pre-taught and re-taught material in order for them to better understand it
-
They have certain (extra) accommodations when taking tests or completing assignments
CONS:
-
They may be missing other material taught in the class while they are being retaught
-
They are coming in contact with a lot of teachers in one day so they may be getting different perspectives or teaching methods
